Google made available from mobile phone 1,5 million books

On February 5 the Google site announced about the mobile version Book Search launch. Thanks to this version mobile phone users will be able to receive full access to 1,5 million books that belong to humanity. It was announced on the official Google Book Search blog.

Now only iPhone and Google phone can use this service accessing to the optimized web page.

According to the developers, many problems were solved to create this service. In particular they had to redo the optical detection mechanism for it to transmit not the page fragment as in usual web version, but text message.

Besides automatic detection algorithms for the book structure were developed for the mobile version. The new mechanism allows to detect the illustrations, notes, titles and also differentiates poetry and prose.

Google phone Book Search is the service allowing to look for information in digital books, was launched in autumn 2004 (was called Google Print then). In March 2007 in Google library you could find about 1 million books. By November 2008 their number increased to 7 million.
